If you’ve spent years struggling to shed unwanted pounds through diet and exercise, you may be considering bariatric surgery. Here at The Wellborn Clinic in Little Rock, AR, we offer both surgical and non-surgical weight loss procedures. We explain those procedures during our free weight loss seminars (in-person seminars and online seminars).
To help you choose the right weight loss seminar, we’ve prepared this list of commonly asked questions about our patient education sessions:
Why is Participation in Weight Loss Seminars Required?
Weight loss surgery is a life-changing procedure. That’s why we ask all of our patients to participate in either our in-person or online educational weight loss seminars before scheduling a consultation with our weight loss clinic. Our goal is to provide you and your loved ones with the information you need to make an informed choice about your weight loss journey.
Who Should Attend?
If you live in or near the Little Rock area, we encourage you to attend one of our monthly in-person bariatric weight loss seminars. We also suggest that you bring along a friend or family member for support, as having a strong support system before and after any weight loss procedure can help you achieve the best possible results from your surgery.
What Happens During an In-Person Weight Loss Seminar?
During these free informational sessions, our team of medical weight loss experts explains each of the surgical options and procedures offered through The Wellborn Clinic. We outline the similarities and differences between different medical weight loss options and discuss typical patient outcomes. You can expect to spend anywhere from 90 minutes to two hours at one of our educational sessions.
We’ll also give you a chance to ask any questions you might have about medical weight loss and to meet with our surgeon, Dr. Clay Wellborn, Jr.

Can I Participate in an Online Seminar?
Our online weight loss seminar is designed for patients who are unable to attend one of our in-person seminars.
If you choose to watch our online patient education seminar, expect to spend at least an hour at your computer in a quiet location where you can view the seminar without interruption. We ask that you watch the entire presentation prior to scheduling a consultation with our weight loss experts.
You will also need to complete an new patient information package. These forms automatically download to your device at the end of the educational presentation.

I’m Interested in Non-Surgical Weight Loss. Do You Offer an Orbera Balloon Seminar?
We now offer a patient education seminar for people who want more information about the new FDA-approved Orbera gastric balloon procedure. Because this unique procedure is completely reversible and uses non-surgical techniques, we have decided to create a separate weight loss seminar that focuses solely on the Orbera balloon.
As with our surgical weight loss procedures, patients need to participate in an Orbera gastric balloon education seminar prior to booking a consultation with our bariatric surgeon.
